The First Law of Thermodynamics says that energy under
normal conditions cannot be created or destroyed, simply transformed
from one type of energy to another.
Alchemy and Ch’i is a
collection of mixed media paintings and drawings that explore Universal
energy, communication, and transformation through the use of form,
symbology, and color. Symbols of earthly elements, the metaphysical,
the spiritual, and the new age collide and intermingle with light,
form, and movement in deep space; a space that welcomes the viewer to
enter, feel connected, and possibly be transformed.
Alchemy
and Ch’i is on display at Gallery 321 at the Washington Street Art
Center during the month of February, with an opening reception on
Saturday February 6 from 6:00-9:00pm. Normal gallery hours are
Saturdays 12:00pm-4:00pm with additional viewings available by
appointment.
The Washington Street Art Center houses Gallery 321, hosts studio
space for more than twenty visual artists, and presents exhibitions,
concerts, film series, and other art initiatives. The Center
participates in Somerville Open Studios each May and an annual open
studios and craft fair in December.
